Integrating Accessibility into Your Delivery Workflow

Build accessibility into every stage of delivery — planning, design, development and testing — instead of treating it as a final checklist.

Accessibility is the result of hundreds of decisions made throughout a product’s delivery. Left to the end, those decisions are expensive to unwind — redesigning components that were built without accessibility in mind, refactoring code that was never structured for keyboard operability, replacing content that was written without thought for screen reader users. Built in from the start, accessibility becomes part of how good products are made.

The difference in cost between these two approaches is significant. Fixing an accessibility issue at the design stage costs a fraction of what it costs to fix the same issue after launch. Organisations that treat accessibility as a delivery standard — not a final checklist — produce better products at lower total cost.
